The Anders Sjogren family emigrated from Dalarna in Sweden in 1890. They came directly to Crawford County, Iowa. The first few years they operated a farm in the southeast part of Stockholm township. They moved to the Olof Larson farm 3 miles south of Kiron around 1896. Olof had died in 1890 and his son died in 1895. The Larson's and the Sjogren's had come from the same area of Dalarna. In 1910 Olof's wife Christina died without any living descendants and willed the property to family in Sweden. It took a couple of years to get the property title straight and then it was sold to August Schurke. The Sjogren family then left and found a place in North Branch, Minnesota. The Sjogren's daughter Esther was born and grew up in the Kiron area and moved with her family to Minnesota.
Richard Johnson was born in the Motala area of Sweden. He emigrated as a young man in 1906 to be with relatives in Stockholm township and Boyer. He married Esther in 1917 and worked on a Minnesota farm for a few years. They came back to Iowa in the early 20's. They farmed in Clinton township in Sac County.
