Aaron Johnson was born in Sweden and emigrated to
Akron, Iowa. Anna Christine Michaelson was born in Stockholm
Township. They married in 1900 and their children are Florence,
Fern, and Dorothy. In 1911 the Johnson's were driving their car
across the railroad track near Galva when a train appeared on
a second track from behind an obstruction. In a horrible crash,
all were killed except by some miracle Fern survived. The wrecked
car which appeared on picture postal cards was left in pieces
scattered along the tracks. It was unrecognizable. Fern grew
up and became a high school teacher and returned to teach at
Kiron High for two years. |
