Henric Jönsson and wife Bertha Christina Jonsdotter
were born in Ramsele parish in Sweden and came to Stockholm township
in July of 1869. Henric's father, Jöns Sparfeldt, had come
the prior year and bought a farm in February of 1868. Henric
and Bertha had two children, Victoria and John Alfred, before
Henric was robbed and murdered while working for the railroad
near Council Bluffs. Son John died in the diptheria plague of
1876. Victoria and her mother lived at grandpa Sparfeldt's farm
until 1885 when Bertha married Carl Sundstrom. Victoria married
neighbor Leonard Johnson in 1892 and they raised a family of
10 children, 9 of which reached adulthood. Third daughter Erma
married Russell Ecklund and their first child was Winifred who
is the young child in this picture with her mother and grandmother
and greatmother. |
