Rev. Sigesmund Gustaf Arvid Svantesson Lagerquist (1871-1941)
emigrated from Eskilstuna Fors parish in Sweden in 1890. He attended
the Morgan Park Seminary in Chicago and married Josephine (1870-~1928)
who had emigrated from Sweden in 1888. They raised 8 children:
Edgar, Roy, Harry, Elvira, Barthal, Wilbur, Gordon, and Paul.
He had pastorates in Kansas City, Chanute, Kiron, and Omaha before
being asked to be state missionary for Swedish Baptists in Iowa.
Known as a strong leader, he was pastor when the 1908 church
was built. Arvid and Josephine both died in Des Moines. |
