My mother told me many times about all the fun they had as kids playing and having picnics in the large grove on Gronau's farmplace. It was a tradition that each spring, close to the end of the Stockholm #4 school semester, the children and their mothers would gather for one of those picnics. This is a picture taken at one of them - thought to be in 1915 but could be later.
In the unenhanced version of a rather small print of this picture, mother made these identifications: very back row of ladies from the left are Mrs. Fred Gronau, Mrs. Charles Gronau, Mrs. William Clauson, Mrs. Louie Gronau, Mrs. Charles Campbell, Mrs. Peter Naslund. She thought Mrs. Newman, the mother of Mrs. Henry Gronau and Mrs Louie Grouau, was in the picture. She wasn't sure of the identification of the rest of the ladies. She thought these classmates might be in the picture: Laura Gronau (1906), Gladys Johnson (abt 19xx), Amanda Giermann (1902), Mabel Ogren (1901), Herbert Gronau (1902), Harold Gronau (abt 19xx), Vernie Gronau (1908), Eunice Johnson (abt 19xx), Mabel Clauson (1908), Melinda Gronau (abt 19xx), Cecil Naslund (1910), Elmer Naslund (1912), Edgar Larson (1907) and Cora Larson (1905). I recognize my mother, Mabel Clauson, as the girl with the white blouse that is third from the right looking over the shoulder of what looks like Edgar Larson.
