Carl Erik Löfqvist was
born on 29 April 1840 on the Bäckaräng farm in Hassela
parish in Sweden. He emigrated to western Illinois in June 1861
and then moved to Kiron in 1869. He was a farmer in section 8
of Stockholm township. He retired to a new home in Kiron shortly
after the town started. In 1908, he served on the building committee
of the Baptist chruch. He died on 3 June 1913 and is buried in
the Kiron Cemetery.
