Joe was born on the family
farm in Stockholm section 8. He worked as a carpenter. In 1908,
he was selected as the foreman of the Baptist church construction
project. Joe never married, was very serious, and did not spend
much time smiling. He was very tall and had difficulty sitting
in a regular church row. He found his favorite spot back in the
far corner of the auditorium where he could stretch out his long
legs. Joe was a person whose word you could trust. He and his
younger sister Lillian lived out their later years in Kiron. Joe
died in 1963 and is buried in the Kiron Cemetery.
