Julius was born on the Vråka
farm in Västra Ed parish in Kalmar län Sverige. He emigrated
in 1869 to western Iowa and worked as a railroad laborer for a
few years to earn money to buy an 80 acre farm in Stockholm township
section 20. He married Carrie Bengtsdotter from Röke parish
in Kristianstads län in 1877. Five of their seven children
grew to adulthood. Julius added 80 adjoining acres to expand his
farm which he operated for over 40 years. In their old age, Julius
and Carrie moved to Chicago to be close to their children. He
died on 13 January 1938 and was brought back to be buried in the
Kiron Cemetery.
