Pehr Jansson was born on 19
September 1842 on the Skottbro farm in the parish of Vendel in
Sweden. He emigrated in 1868 to Illinois and then to Kiron in
1870 using his American name of Peter Johnston. He was a
farmer in Otter Creek township section 24. He had the sad duty
to bury all three of his wives. In 1908, he was asked to be the
chairman of the building committee for the new Baptist church.
Peter died in 1923 and is buried in the Kiron Cemetery.
