 1882 Old Kiron Grocery Store

The Swede Brothers, Eric and Jonas, built this building on the east side of the Spirit Lake Airline on the northeast quadrant of the Old Kiron intersection on a land lot carved out of the Lindblom farm. They had come from Minnesota with their neighbors, the Bullers, who lived across the road to the west and the Norelius family who lived across the intersection to the southwest. One mile to the north lived the Olson family who also had come from the same geographical area of Sweden in Hälsingland. The brothers first had partnered with the Bullers in building wagons for the settlers. The Bullers doing the metal work and the Swedes doing the wood work. By the 1880's, the brothers saw the need for distribution of groceries and household goods for the new settlers and set up this kind of business in this building.
