 Later Threshing Scene

This picture shows the progress in the machines that did the threshing.  This is a wooden model that carries the name Red River Special on the side.  One of the differences here is that the grain bundles were brought to the machine in horse drawn bundle racks.  The separator is equipped with a bundle feeder and the farmer standing in the rack is pitching the grain bundles into this feeder on the machine. The grain is elevated into the wagon instead of being collected in sacks on the ground.  The older style straw elevator is still in use on this machine. Only four men appear in this picture.  One is stacking the straw. One is handling grain. The separator man is overseeing operations. And one is in the bundle rack.  The scene appears to be in the field and the work clothes seem appropriate to summer, probably late August.
