Otto
is the 4th son of Carl Fredrick Clauson and Lena Carin Jonsdotter.
He was one of the early children of the Swedish emigrants who was born
in Stockholm Township. Otto married Emma Lundberg, the daughter of John
Lundberg and Anna Charlotta Johnson, in 1901. Otto started a farming
career with his brother Ed in Stockholm Township but left that after his
young wife, Emma, died leaving him with a young son Leslie. Otto
remarried to Alfena Lilljeholm in 1905 and moved to the new town of Kiron
and became one of the towns businessmen. Alfena was born in Illinois to
Swedish emigrants August Lilleholm and Mathilda Norman. They moved from
Illinois to a Milford Township farm around 1880. Otto and Alfena
lived the rest of their lives in Kiron. Son Leslie went off to Iowa
State's college of engineering and persued an engineering career with the
Iowa Highway Comission. He served many years as Iowa's Chief Highway
Engineer. Otto is buried in the Kiron cemetery alongside his wife
Emma. Alfena is buried in the cemetery in Denison.
