Cedergren was born in Sweden on Öland island. His parents were
Samuel Cedergren and Anna Olsdotter who remained in Sweden the rest of
their lives. In 1894 John immigrated from Sweden to Iowa. He
worked as a farm laborer for Victor Linman and then decided on the ministry.
Hilda was born in Illinois to August Lilleholm and Mathilda Norman.
The Lilleholm family moved to a farm in Milford township around 1880.
Otto and Hilda were married in 1903. They lived in Kiron and for
a time had pastorates at other Free churches. They had 6 children
who are: Jeanette, Mabel, John Francis, Ruth, Paul, and Julia, who died
as a child. Jeanette and Ruth were schoolteachers for many years in various
school systems in western Iowa.
John and Hilda are buried in the Kiron Cemetery. |
