William Lindberg and Ida Winquist

William was one of the early births in the new settlement, his birthday being in 1872.  His parents were Charles Lindberg and Annie Larson who farmed two miles south of present day Kiron in Stockholm township.  Ida was born in Des Moines and came with her parents Nels and Johanna Winquist to their farm in Stockholm township.  Both Bill and Ida were educated at Stocholm #4 rural school.  They were married in 1894 and moved to the farm in Otter Creek township across the road from the old Lindberg place.  They had 9 children:  Elsie, Irene. Florence, and Charles, Floyd, Silas, Everette, Evelyn, and Harold.  Ida died suddenly in 1909 and Bill with the aid of his older daughters raised the family on the farm.  Bill was well known for his activities with the Kiron Baptist Church. In his senior years he left the farm and bought the Kiron grain elevator which he operated until it burned to the ground.
