Lois Jane Carlberg

Lois Jane Carlberg, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs., Elmer Carlberg of Arthur, passed peacefully to her Heavenly reward in her home Saturday morning, January 27 1940, after an illness of several months duration. Everything possible was done to regain her health but of no avail. She was a most patient sufferer, ever grateful for what loving hands did for her.

Lois Jane Carlberg was born January 5, 1921 at Galva, Iowa. Here she resided with her parents for two years then the family moved to Wheeler township and later to their present residence near Arthur.

After completing her grade education she attended the Odebolt high school and later the Arthur high school from which she graduated with the class of 1938.

She was baptized on Easter Sunday April 24, 1935 in the Kiron Baptist church where she was a faithful member. She also was a member of the junior Philathea class. Her young life bore a beautiful witness as a Christian. She was a tender and sweet daughter, sister and friend. She was endowed with a sweet and cheerful disposition. At the time of her death she was 19 years and 5 days.

Funeral services were held from the home at 1 o’clock Tuesday afternoon and from the Kiron Baptist church at 2 o’clock conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. W. Johnson. Large throngs came to pay their last respects to this beloved young woman. R. O. Lindskoog sang as a solo "An Evening Prayer" and Minnie and Evelyn Johnson sang in Duett "Moment By Moment."

She is survived by her grief stricken parents, a young brother, Lindy, and a host of relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Harris Youngquist, John and Dwight Winquist, Waldo, Robert and Virgil Winquist, Interment was made in the Kiron cemetery.

Many from Galva, Arthur, Storm lake and Odebolt attended the funeral.
