Selma "Sally" Rosenquist was born on a farm north of Kiron, Iowa in Hayes Township, Ida County, July 4, 1899 the daughter of Carl Johan "CJ" and Amanda Christina Carlson Danielson. She was raised on farms in Hayes Township before moving to the farm In Wheeler Township, Sac County. She received her education in the Hayes #7 and Wheeler #4 rural schools.
On June 5,1923, Sally was united in marriage with Charles Rosenquist in Ida Grove, Iowa. Their union was blessed with four children, Marla Belle, Wanda Lois, Charles Dale and Donna Maine. They made their home on the farm across the road from her parents for twenty-four years where they raised their family. In 1947 they moved to 20 North Orange Street in Kiron.
Charles died September 9, 1986 and Sally continued to reside at their home in Kiron.
She was a life-time member of the Bethel Lutheran Church at Kiron, their sewing club and Ladies Aid, the Wheeler Township Birthday Club and enjoyed the coffee clubs in Kiron.
Sally never lived more than four miles from her birthplace until entering the Odebolt Nursing and Rehab Center in Odebolt September 15, 1989. It was there her death occurred. Monday morning, November 30, 1998. At the time of her death she had attained the age of 99 years, 4 months, and 26 days.
Including her parents and husband, Sally was preceded in death by one daughter, Marla Belle Wright, two sisters, Freda Danielson who died in infancy and Anna Carlson and three brothers, Emil, Oscar and Edwin Danielson.
Those who. remain to cherish her memory include three children, Wanda Lois and husband, Nils Axelson of Northbrook, Illinois, Charles Dale Rosenquist and wife, Eleanor of Pendleton, Oregon and Donna Relaine Grede of Thiensville, Wisconsin, 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, one great great grandson, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
