Funeral services for Marie Sewell, 84, of Arthur were at 10:30 am last Friday in the Arthur Evangelical Free Church. She died Tuesday, Dec 28, 199 at her home in Arthur. The Rev. Robert Lundberg officiated with burial in Hayes Township Cemetery south of Arthur. The Chirstensen-Ciha Funeral Home of Ida Grove was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Sewell was born 27 June 1909 in Canaan, Mo, the daughter of Eugene and Cora (Breuer) Howard. She married James Sewell in 1933. The couple lived in Missouri the first few years of their marriage and moved near Odebolt in 1943. They moved to Arthur in 1957, where they farmed. She worked at the nursing home in Odebolt for a couple of years. Mr. Sewell died in 1984. Mrs. Sewell was a former member of the United Methodist Church in Missouri and a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Arthur.
Survivors include: two sons, James Sewell Jr. of Arthur and Calvin Sewell of Sac City; three daughters, Betty Sewell of Arthur, Donna Sewell of Warrenton, Mo. and Mrs. Bob (Alice) Follows of needham, mass.; seven grandchildrern; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Gayliardi of Phoenix, Ariz.
