Mrs. Charlotta Lovisa Johanson Linquist

Dead in Hayes. Her Last Illness Only Six Days in Duration. Lived in County Forty-Years

Mrs. Lotta Linquist, the aged mother of Mrs. Elof Carlson, died Friday afternoon, May 19 at her home in Hayes township, after six days illness. The funeral took place Monday afternoon in charge. of Rev. C. I . Peterson of Kiron and Rev. John Roos, pastor of the Arthur Baptist church. She was laid to rest in the Arthur cemetery. She had attained the age of 77 years, 1 month and 10 days.

Lotta Lovisa Johanson was born in Istrum Socken Skaraborgs lan, Västergötland Sweden, on April 9, 1845. She left for America on her thirty second birthday and reached Denison, Iowa. She settled in Hayes township on May 9. The same year, the date being July 20, 1877, she was married to Johan August Linquist, who died September 16, 1919. To their union, four children were born: John Albert Linquist, Mrs. Anna Caroline Carlson and William Alfred Linquist. A fourth child, Franz Theodore, died in 1887. She is. also: survived by two sisters, Mrs. Christina Anderson, Mrs. Johanna Lilja, one brother Karl Johanson, all of Sweden. There are three grandchildren Lloyd and Eleanor Linquist and Lorraine Carlson. There are numerous other relatives in this country and in Sweden.

She was converted in January 1887 and was baptized Nov. 1, 1890, becoming a member of the Arthur Baptist church, retaining her membership until her death a period of about thirty-two years. While she resided near the church on the old homestead, she was very active in the work of the church. From this home, she and her husband removed to their new home near Hayes Center May 10. 1916 to be near their daughter, Mrs. Carlson, during their declining days.
