Obituary of - Mrs. Clara Marie Anderson Johansdotter - Who Died May 22, 1956
Clara Marie Anderson (nee Johansson) was born in Handelop, Westervik, Sweden, 21 June 1869 and came to America in 1887. She married Gust Anderson on 22 September 1894 and lived in Crawford and Sac Counties until 1922 when they quit farming and moved to Lake View, where they lived until the death of her husband five years ago. Since then she has made her home with her daughters. At the time of her death she was with her daughter in Ida Grove.(Mrs. Henry Hansohn)(The Anderson's formerly resided on a farm south of Kiron). She suffered a stroke on May 13th and passed away on May 22nd at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 1 day.
Survivors are: seven daughters, and one son. Olga (Mrs. Irvin Larson, Barnum, Minnesota), Mabel, (Mrs. Wm. Hansohn, Holstein), Myrtle (Mrs. Carl Falk, Paso Robles, California), Hulda (Mrs. C. E. Singleton, Sheridan, Indiana), Jane (Mrs. Henry Hansohn, Ida Grove) Lillian (Mrs. Raymond Finders, Dayton, Ohio), Evelyn (Mrs. Myrtle Witt, Des Moines and D. Anderson of Edwards, Illinois, A brother, Charles S. Johnson of Monticello, Minnesota, 21 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Her husband, one son, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren preceded her in death.
Mrs. Anderson was baptized and joined the First Baptist Church in Kiron shortly after her marriage and remained a faithful member until her death. Due to physical weakness she was unable to be active outside her home and in later years was confined to her bed or a wheel chair.
Memorial services were held at the Kiron Baptist church in Kiron on Friday. Rev. Eric Anderson officiating. John Winquist sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "Beyond the Sunset." Pallbearers were: Emil Anderson, Edward Anderson, Clarence Clauson, Evan Anderson, Roy Abbott and Eddie Abbott. Interment was in the Kiron Cemetery.
