Funeral Services For - Amanda Ulrika Johnson Mauritz - Held at Baptist Church

Funeral services for Amanda A. Mauritz were held Monday at the Kiron Baptist church with Rev. Ted Johnson in charge. Reuben Lindskoog, who was accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Ferne Wilson was soloist.

Amanda Ulrika Mauritz, nee Johnson, was born in Sweden 24 January 1875. After spending her childhood in Sweden she came to this country at the age of 18 and settled with relatives in Ida county.

January 27, 1904 she was united in marriage to Emil M. Mauritz and to this union one child, their daughter louella, was born.

Mrs. Mauritz was a good and friendly neighbor to all the community. She enjoyed doing things for others. As long as her health permitted she was a faithful member of the Friendly Bible class of the Baptist church. For the past 15 months Mrs. mauritz has resided with her daughter in Sioux Falls, D. D.

After a brief illness of five days, Mrs. Mauritz died December 27, 1956 having reached the age of 81 years, 11 months, four days.

She was preceded in death by her husband Emil, one brother and a sister.

Mrs. Mauritz is survived by her daughter louella, one brother, and 12 nieces and nephews.

Burial was in the Kiron cemetery. The pallbearers were Charles Sjogren, Chas. Lindberg, Bert Lindstrom, Adolph Knief, Edgar Larson and Jubal Winquist.

Those who attended the funeral from a distance were Staff Sgt. and Mrs. Ronald Mauritz of Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Lohr of West Union, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Sykes and Donald Sykes of Odebolt, Ben Petersen, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Art Case of Manning, Mr. and Mrs. Toby Van Ness of Dunlap, Mr. Joe Shields, Mr. George Ulven and Mr. Harold Elman of Sioux Falls, SD.
