Andrew E. Johnson Expires at 82 Years
Andrew E. Johnson was suddenly called from this life last Wednesday afternoon, 27 Feb 1929. He was born near Engelholm, southern Sweden, 12 August 1846, being at his death 82 years, 6 months and 15 days. He came to the United States in 1871 and three years after settled in Sac county where he has lived almost 55 years, thus being one of the oldest settlers in this community. The 21st of October, 1880, he married Miss Augusta Lundberg and twelve children have been the joy and blessing of this union, but two of them died years ago. The sons: Emil, Elmer and Seth are farming here. Joseph lives in Gowrie, Iowa; Henry is professor in a college in Butte, Montana and Enoch is an artist in Minneapolis, Minn. Matiel is the wife of Rev. Martin H. Hamlin, Kansas City, Kansas, Esther is married to Joseph Samuelson and Minnie and Evelyn live at home.
Mr. Johnson accepted Christ as his savior in 1876 and was for some years a member of the Baptist church in Kiron but he and Mrs. Johnson united with the Arthur Baptist church in 1890, where they have been true and faithful members for these years. Mr. Johnson was a man of sterling integrity and interested deeply in every good work.
The funeral services was held from the house and from the Arthur Baptist church Saturday afternoon, 3 march, and interment was made in the Hayes cemetery, the services being conducted by the pastor, P. Lovene.
