Funeral services for Dr Conwell W. Johnson, Ph D., CAS, 71, of Hanover Park, 111. and formerly of Kiron, were at 11 a.m. Saturday in the ChristensenCilia Funeral Home in Ida Grove. He died Tuesday, Sept 18, 1990, at a hospital in Hines, 111.

The Rev. E. James Schubring officiated, with burial in the Hayes Township Cemetery, South of Arthur.

Dr. Johnson was born Feb. 2. 1919, in Kiron, the son of Seth William and Gertrude Marie (Johnson) Johnson. He graduated from Odebolt-Arthur High School in 1936.

He received a bachelor's degree in 19489 a master's degree in 1956 and his doctor', of philosophy (Ph. D.) in 1958, all from Iowa State University.

He was a veteran of World War 11 and the Korean Conflit

On April 14, 1950, he married Helen Ramsden in Fort Dodge.

Dr. Johnson was nutrionalist-director of product development and served with the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a consultant for Third World countries for food and animal development. He served on the USDA Salmonella Advisory Committee.

Dr. Johnson was a member of the Church of Cross Presbyterian Church in Hoffman Estates, Ill., American Society of Animal Science, American Dairy Science Association, Poultry Science Association, U.S. Animal Association, American Seed Manufacturer's Association and American Association of Feeds Control Officials.

Survivors include: his wife; a daughter, Janice Johnson-Torricelli of Hanover Park; a granddaughter of Hanover Park; two sisters, Leone Johnson of Des Moines and LaVerne Schubring of Arlington Heights, Ill.; and two brothers, Duane of Odebolt and Forrest of Fort Dodge,
