Erick Johnson Funeral
Retired Jeweler Dies Wednesday Following Heart Attack
Funeral services for Erick Johnson, 67, retired jeweler and watchmaker,
were held at 1:30 Saturday 6 January 1973 at the Arthur Evangelical
Free Church with the Rev. Robert Lundberg officiating. Mr. Johnson
died at his home on South Main Street in Odebolt Wednesday afternoon,
January 3 after suffering a heart attack.
Helen McGee was organist. James Linman sang a solo and he and
Allen Tunberg sang a duet. Burial was in the Kiron cemetery wtih
Albert Wunschel, Paul Lindgren, Carl Hedum, Burdette Clouse, LuVerne
Rydberg and Fred Kuehl the attendants.
Erick Bertil Johnson was born June 5, 1905 to Carl and Anamda
Johannson in Istrum, Skaraborgs Län, Sweden, He came to America,
Odebolt, Iowa September 10, 1924 and worked on different farms,
He made his home with his Aunt, Tillie Peterson on the ALbert
Linquist farm in Ida County.
March 3, 1937 he married Mabel Skarin of Kiron. They resided on
farms in the Aarthur and Odebolt areas until they moved to Odebolt
in 1951. He pursued his occupation as a jeweler and watchmaker
and opened his shop in Odebolt in the Dr. Taylor building. Later
he moved it to his home on South Main and continued with this
until his semi-retirement two years ago, still continuing his
His untimely death came January 3, 1973 at his home when he suffered
a fatal heart attack.
He was a faithful member of the Arthur Evangelical Free Church
which he attended regularly until his death.
His survivors are his wife, Mabel, a brother, Everett, in Sweden,
a cousin, Sidney Peterson of Westside, a brother-in-law, Harry
Skarin and four sisters-in-law.
