George Milton Johnson - Funeral At Kiron
KIRON...George Milton Johnson was born in Stockholm Township, the son of Olaf Johnson and Agnes (Anderson) Johnson 8 August 1887. He died suddenly Monday morning, June 11, 1973 at the Denison Manor Home in Denison.
He grew up in the Kiron Vicinity and lived there all his life with the exception of two years at Greenville, Iowa. He was married to Alice Sandstrom 27 December 1916. THey celebrated their golden anniversary in 1966. They lived their entire married life on the same farm, where he was still living until entering the Denison Manor two days before his death.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Bethel Lutheran Church and was a faithful member there all his life. He was a director of the Farmers Lumber and Coal Co. in Kiron for 20 years, a deacon and trustee of the church for many years, a director of the Bethel Cemetery ass'n for over 40 years. He was also very active in Red Cross work for 15 years.
Mrs. Johnson died June 16, 1969.
Survivors are three brothers, Ernest of Greenville, Iowa, Arthur of Peterson, Iowa, and Richard of Spencer, Iowa; four sister-in-law; Mrs, Laura johnson of Odebolt, Mrs. Francis Johnson, Deer River, Minnesota; and Mrs. Ernest Johnson and Mrs. Arthur Johnson.
He was preceded in death besides his wife, by his parents, and three brothers, William, Martin, and Harry.
Funeral services were held at the Bethel Lutheran Church Wednesday afternoon, June 13, 1973 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Wallace B. Johnson Officiating. Congragational hymns were sung. Mrs. Mervin Buller was organist.
Pallbearers were Earl Baker, Raymond Baker, Vernie Baker, Seldon Buller, Vernie Gronau and Richard Johnston.
Interment was in the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery.
