Obituary of - Lena Christina Johnson - (1836 - 2 May 1920)
Mrs. Lena Christina Johnson passed away in death last Sunday May 2nd, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ed. Eckman, where she was moved last week upon her own request. The past seven weeks her condition has been very low having been in bed constantly and most tenderly cared for by her children.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Ekeryd, Henneryd Socken, Kronobergs L n, Sweden, December 23, 1836, being at her death 83 years 4 months and 10 days of age. She was united in marriage to John Johnson in 1859 in Horsaberga, Sweden, and became the stepmother of three children of which N. P. Johnson, Kiron, and Mrs. Helena Swenson in Kileberg, Sweden are still living. To this union was born four children, three daughters and one son: Mrs. Ida Eckman, Mrs. Viola Salmonson, living in Kiron, and Mrs. Mary Lindstrom, who died in Chicago in 1890, and Albert Johnson with whom she made her home here in Kiron for a number of years.
Mrs. Johnson came to Morris, Illinois, from Sweden, in 1872, where the family lived until moving here in 1888. She has been a member of the Baptist church since 1882, being a member of the Baptist church here at the time of her death. Her husband was called before her to the heavenly home in 1907, from Morris, Illinois.
Those remaining to mourn are the children, grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
According to her wish no flowers were bought for her funeral, the money she wanted sent to the Orphans Home in New Britain, Conn.
The funeral was held Tuesday from the home at 1:30 P.M. and at the Baptist church at 2:00P.M.
