Mary Florence Johnson was born at Kiron, Iowa, May 20, 1878, the daughter of Clara and C. J. Johnson. Here her childhood and girlhood days were passed and in 31 Dec 1901 she was united in marriage to Elmer H. Mauritz. To this union two sons, Waldo and Emory, were born. In 1908 the family moved to Bronson, Iowa, living there until 1916 when they moved to Lawton. Shortly after going to Lawton, the health of Mrs. Mauritz began to fail. Different physicians were consulted and she was advised to go to Excelsior Springs, Mo., for treatment., the family moving to Excelsior in July 1919. She continued to decline and on November 10, her spirit returned to God who gave it.
Mrs. Mauritz was converted in her youth and united with the Kiron Baptist Church. She united with the Presbyterian church at Bronson and upon her removal to Lawton, transferred her membership to the church there. She was at all times a faithful worker in the Sunday School and church. During her last illness, she gave testimony concerning her salvation and told her loved ones that "God was going to give her sweet rest in the great beyond."
She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, two sons, father, one brother, one sister and other relatives and friends. Peace to her memory.
