Ida Koehn (Mrs. Ida Giermann Dies At 98 Years) (d-3 October 1972)
Kiron....Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Giermann were held Thursday, October 5, 1972, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stockholm Township, Iowa, with Rev. Emil R. Zmijewski, officiating. Lois Gronau served as organist, accompanied by the Ladies of the St. John's Lutheran church.
Interment was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, at Stockholm Township, with the following serving as pallbearers; Raymond Baker, LaVerne Boyens, Edward Hansohn, Fred Schurke, Raymond Schurke and Henry Stehr.
Ida Giermann, daughter of Fred and Caroline (Winterberg) Koehn, was born July 15, 1874, in Grotz Lukow, Germany, and died Tuesday, October 3, 1972, at the age of 98 years, two months and 18 days.
She was baptized in the Lutheran faith in infancy, at the age of 10, came to this country with her parents in 1885, attended rural schools here, and was confirmed April 14, 1889, by Rev. Srobel in Denison.
December 15, 1895, she was married to August Giermann, in St. john's Lutheran Church in Stockholm Township, and have continued their membership in this church. Mr. and Mrs. Giermann made their home on a farm near Boyer, where they lived for 53 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Giermann retired from the farm in 1948, and made their home in Kiron, they celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1945, and their 72nd anniversary December 15, 1967. Mr. Giermann died December 23, 1967 at the age of 95 years.
She is survived by her son, Henry, of Kiron, Iowa; Elsie, Mrs, Albert Neumann, of Odebolt; Lillie, Mrs. Arnold Kropf, of Boyer, eight grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Sshe is preceded in death by her husband, August, one son, Fred, two brothers, Carl and Herman, sister Annie and a half sister, Augusta.
