The Rev. Arvid G. Lagerquist, 70, Baptist evangelist, of 1238
E. Thirteenth St., died in his sleep Tuesday night at his home.
He had attended a noon meeting of Baptist ministers.
The Rev. Mr. Lagerquist was born at Eskilstuna, Sweden and came to the United States 51 years ago. He studied for the ministry at Morgan Park in Chicago, Ill., and was ordained in 1896 at Rock Island, Ill., after which he served churches at Chanute, Kansas; Kiron, Iowa; and Omaha, Neb.
In 1914 he was called to Iowa as missionary for the Swedish Baptist conference and held the office until 1920 when he was appointed to serve the Iowa state convention, a position he held until 1927. Since then he had participated in evangelistic campaigns, research work and pulpit supply duty.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Elvira Truman; Seven sons, Wilbur, Paul and Gordon , all of Des Moines: Edgar of Marion, Iowa; Harry of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Barthal of Chicago, Illinois and Roy of Sawyer, Michigan.
