FUNERAL SERVICES HELD TUESDAY AFTERNOON FOR CHARLEY LIND

Charley Peter Lind, the son of Ingemar and Birta Lind, was born in Otter Creek, township, Crawford county, Iowa, on July 9, 1885, and passed away Saturday morning, January 28, 1950, at the age of 64 years, 6 months and 19 days. His health has been failing during the past year. After suffering from a stroke, he was taken to the Ida Grove Hospital on January 10th. One week later he was taken to the home of his sister, Mrs. Elmer SKarin at Arthur, where he spent the last nine days of his life and where he had a second stroke and became gradually weaker. Every care was given him but in his weakness he slept away shortly after midnight Saturday morning, January 28th.
Charley spent all of his life in the Kiron community with the exception of one year, the year of 1918, which he spent in Texas. He attended the Otter Creek twp. school district No. 1. Charley lived at home with his parents until 1916, at which time he started farming for himself and continued until he retired from the farm and moved to Kiron in 1948.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary, who died in early childhood, and Lydia, Mrs. A. W. Lindstrom, who passed away just four days before her brother. Surviving Mr. Lind are three sisters and three brothers, Hannah, (Mrs. Alfred Danielson), Mary, (Mrs. Ed Olson) and George, all of Kiron; Nels of Deer River, Minn.; John of Denison, Iowa, and Esther, (Mrs. Elmer Skarin) of Arthur; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services were held from the Evangelical Free Church in Kiron on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Rev. John Hedlund of the Free Church of Arthur, conducting. Mrs. Ernest Anderson and Mrs. Russell Gustafson sang three hymns.
Pall bearers were Allen Ogren, Glen Goetsch, Eugene Larson, Willard Carlson, Martin Johnston and Chris Rosenquist.
Internment was made in the Kiron cemetery.
Relatives attending from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Iver Lindgren, of Schaller and Mr. and Mrs. David Danielson, also of Schaller, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gregg of Cherokee, Boyd Skarin of Arthur, Lester Skarin of Cherokee, Mr. and Mrs. John Lind of Denison, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Lind of Storm Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Lind of Westside, and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Skarin of Arthur and Mrs. Mearl Graham of Deloit.
