Thure Linden - (1894 - 1972) Funeral Held In Kiron

Kiron...Funeral services for Thure Linden were held at the Kiron Bethel Lutheran Church Monday afternoon, August 28, 1972 with the Rev. R. E. Carlson officiating. Dwight Winquist, soloist, sang "Sweet By and By" accompanied by Mrs. Mervin Buller, Organist.
Military graveside rites were given by the Kiron American Legion.
Pallbearers were Quentin Norelius, LaVerne Boyens, Howard Purdy, Floyd Danielson, Bryan Weberg and William Nelson, Jr.
Interment was in the Kiron Cemetery.
Thure Andrew Linden, son Andrew J. and Hilma Linden, was born at Odebolt April 3, 1894. When he was two years old, the family moved to a farm northeast of Kiron, and this became Mr. Linden's home until 1944, when he moved his family to Kiron, where he has since made his home.
He was baptized and confirmed at the Bethel Lutheran Church and attended public schools in this community.
December 26, 1916 he was married to Daisy Smothers of Smithland, at Onawa. They had two daughters and one son, daughters, (Margaret) Mrs. Roy Larson of Kiron and Mrs. Dorothy Jenkins of Des Moines and one son, Earl, of Des Moines, Nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren/
After moving to town, Mr. Linden had worked as a town employee, engaged in trucking and had had other local employment.
Last spring it became evident that his health was failing and had been hospitalized at Ida Grove, and Veterans Hospital in Omaha and returned home where Mrs. Linden cared for him as long as she possibly could and was again admitted to the Horn hospital in Ida Grove, where he died Saturday morning, August 26, 1972 at the age of 78 years, four months and 23 days.
He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church and also of the American Legion.
Mr. Linden was the last of his family, being preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.
