Mrs. Emma Segerstrom Expires After Short Illness
Came to Iowa The Year 1881

Mrs. Emma Segerstrom, wife of Gus Segerstrom on two and a half miles south of Arthur, died last Saturday at two o’clock after a short illness that is thought to have been paralysis. Mrs. Segerstrom came to Iowa in 1881, the family settling in Hayes Township, where they have since made their home.

Five of the nine children born to this union still survive. They are: Axel, Charles and William Segerstrom, Mrs. Frank Hiteman and Miss Esther Segerstrom. All of them reside in Hayes township. She is also survived by her husband.

The funeral took place at the late home Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock and at the Swedish church in Hayes township at 2:30. Mrs. Segerstrom was a lady of many splendid traits and the funeral services were very largely attended

Some records show death date of 9 Oct 1914. She died of angina.

Notice in the 15 Oct 1914 Odebolt Chronicle:

Mrs. Gus Segerstrom residing 5 miles west of Odebolt died very suddenly at her home last Friday and was buried on Tuesday at the Arthur Baptist Church Cemetery. Cause of her death was heart failure. The Segerstrom family is the oldest in this vicinity.
