Obituary of Anna Othelia Lundberg Clauson,
Who Died On November 12, 1967
Anna Othelia Clauson, daughter of Axel and Mathilda Lundberg,
was born in Wheeler Township, Sac County, on December 22, 1882
and died at the Horn Memorial hospital in Ida Grove on November
12, 1967, at the age of 84 years.
She lived in the home of her parents during her youth. At an early
age she was converted and baptized and joined the Evangelical
Free Church. She served it faithfully for the remainder of her
life. She was active in the church until the last few years, in
the Sunday School as Cradle Roll superintendent and in the Ladies
Aid and the Women's Missionary Society when it was organized.
For many years she furnished flowers for the church services and
was on the flower committee. She also served in the capacity of
Deaconess for many years.
Prior to her marriage, she attended millinery school in Cedar
Rapids and returned to establish the first millinery shop in the
town of Kiron.
On February 20, 1901, she was united in marriage to Edward E.
Clauson who preceded her in death on June 23, 1953. They lived
to celebrate their golden anniversary in 1951.
Six children were born to this union, three of whom preceded her
in death. Raymond in 1937, Rev. Ralph Clauson in 1956 and Stanley
in 1966. Anna Clauson was the last surviving member of the Axel
She is survived by her daughter, Bernice (Mrs. Oscar Hilberg)
of Kiron, Newell of Port Orchard, Washington, and Lowell of Kiron.
Survivors include 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Evangelical Free Church on November
17 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Paul H. Nelson officiating.
