Elmer H. Mauritz
Former Kironite Passes After Lingering Illness
Elmer H. Mauritz, 66 of Bronson, died in a hospital in Sioux City Thursday, Jan 28, 1943, after an illness of several months.
Mr. Mauritz was born 1 September 1876 in Sweden and come to the United States with his parents in 1878 settling at Kiron. He married Mary Johnson of Kiron, in 1901. She passed away in 1919. In 1928 he married Evelyn Smith of Bronson, Iowa.
Since 1907 Mr. Mauritz was proprietor of a general store in Bronson. He was a member of the board of trustees of the Bronson Presbyterian church and belonged to the Odd Fellows Lodge at Lawton.
Surviving are the widow, Evelyn, two sons, Waldo of Chicage, and First Lieut. Emory Mauritz, a doctor at Camp Gruber, Oklahoma, one brother, Emil, of Kiron, one sister, Mrs. Betty Valdemar, of Pisgah, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Presbyterian church at Bronson. Rev. Smith of Lawton, officiating. Burial was made in the Graceland Park Cemetary at Sioux City.
The son, Waldo of Chicago was home. Those attending from Kiron were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer E. Mauritz, E. M. Mauritz, Mrs. J. E. Mauritz, and Mrs, John Dobbs.
