Emil Mauritz of Kiron Dies After Long Illness

Funeral Services Monday at Baptist Church For Emil Mauritz

Emil M. Mauritz was born in Kristianstad län, Skåne, Sweden on 3 May 1871. At the age of 8 he came to this country with his family and settled in Crawford county. On 27 January 1904 he was married to Amanda johnson and to this union one daughter, LuElla, was born.

He spent nearly three-fourths of a century in and around Kiron living a rich and full lifef. Visiting with friends during his declining years proved to be most helpful to him. Although in failing health for three years, he could be up and around until a week ago Saturday when he suffered a slight stroke. he was tenderly cared for by his wife and daughter until he passed away on 31 December 1953 at the age of 82 years, 7 months, 28 days. His parents, two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife and daughter, twelve nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held at 2:00pm on Monday from the Kiron Baptist Church, Rev. Orville Johnson officiating. R. O. Lindskoog, soloist sang, "Under His Wings" and "Face to Face" with Mrs. Elmer Wilson as organist.

Pallbearers were Adolph Knief, Walter Carlson, Bert Lindstrom, C. W. Lindberg, George Johnson, and Charles Sjogren.

Interment was in the family plot in the Kiron Cemetery.

Attending from a distance were Mr. H. E. Elman, Mrs. Herman Christensen and J. S. Schields and son Jim of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. T. N. Van Ness of Dunlap and Micheal Waldemer of Pisgah.
