S. M. Moline, a long time resident of Kiron passed away at the Odebolt Hospital Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock following an operation on Wednesday. Mr. Moline's health failed him last summer and he submitted to two operations at the German Lutheran Hospital in Sioux City last fall which were both successful. After coming back from the hospital he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. B. E. Leonard at Odebolt. Last week he visited a few days here at the home of his son, Edward, and called on the homes of his friends here. He was recuperating nicely until the first of the week. when he was suddenly taken sick. The best medical aid was procured and his children did all possible for him but of no avail.
Sven Monson Moline was born in Horja socken, Sweden 30 Dec, 1851, and passed Away March 25, 1932, being at the time of his death 80 years 3 months and 24 days of age. Mr. Moline and his family immigrated to America in the year 1903 coming directly to this locality. They made their home in old Kiron until the year 1908 when Mrs. Moline passed away. Following her death Mr. Moline purchased a home in Kiron which has been his home since.
Mr. Moline learned the carpenter trade in his native land and followed that line when he came to America. He was a competent workman and honest in all his dealings. He was a kind and loving father and a good neighbor and friend. While in Sweden he served fifteen years in the militia. After coming to this locality he became a member of the Swedish Baptist church of Kiron where he has since been a faithful member and will be greatly missed in his place in church. Mr. Moline possessed a strong Christian character.
Mr. Moline was united in marriage to Miss Nillie Nordgren in Sweden 23 Dec 1876. This union was blest with 9 children, two boys dying in infancy in Sweden and one son, Swan dying in this country. Those who are left to mourn their father are, Emily, Mrs. Emil Olson of Odebolt,
Edward of Kiron, Ernest of Arthur, Nellie, Mrs. Edd H. Johnson of Kiron, Anna, Mrs. R. E. Eckman and Ida, Mrs. B. E. Leonard of Odebolt. He leaves fifteen grand children, one brother, and one sister, both in Sweden. Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Swedish Baptist church in Kiron, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Gordon Carlson, assisted by rev. H. A. Faugerstrom. The many beautiful floral offerings spoke of the high esteem for the departed brother. Special singing was rendered. The pall bearers were W. J. Sandberg, P. A. Peterson, Adolph Salmonson, Oscar C. Johnson, S. M. Sjogren and N. E. Larson. He was laid to rest beside his wife in the Kiron Cemetery. Blessed be his memory.
A large crowd attended the funeral among them many friends from Odebolt and nearby towns
