Mr. John Naslund
Passes Away - (1839 - 1929)
One of Crawford county's oldest pioneers passed away March 9 at
the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm Clauson at the ripe old age
of 89 years, 4 months and 11 days.
Mr. Naslund had enjoyed good health in his old age until the last
year when his health failed him. Three weeks ago pneumonia developed
and in spite of all that loving hands could do he was summoned
to his Christ.
John Naslund was born October 26, 1839 at Ramsele Socken, Norland,
Sweden(Ed.note:Vasternorrland Lan,Imnas farm,son of okta Anna
JohansDotter and Drang Jons Sparfeldt). In 1867 he was united
in marriage to Sarah Hanson who preceded him in death February
8, 1892. This union was blessed with two children. Mrs. Anna Naslund
Clauson and Peter Naslund both of whom reside in Stockholm township.
Mr. Naslund and his family immigrated to this country in 1888
when they settled on what has been the homestead ever since.
Since the death of his wife he has made his home with his daughter
Mrs. Clauson where he has been tenderly cared for. He was a highly
respected citizen well liked by his neighbors and friends.
He was converted while in Sweden and his last testimony was that
he was firm in his Master's faith and was ready to go to his Maker.
He leaves to mourn the two children Mrs. Clauson and Peter Naslund,
six grandchildren and three great grandchildren and a host of
Funeral services were held at the home Saturday afternoon Rev.
Carlson officiating. Special singing in both languages was rendered.
The floral offerings were beautiful showing love and respect for
the departed. The interment was made in the Kiron cemetery. Peace
be to his memory.
