Alice Lucille Nelson

Alice Lucille Nelson was born 27 August 1890 to Oliver and Louisa Peterson Nelson on a farm in Hayes Township. She received her early education in this area. Later she went to Cchicago and established a career as an infant’s nurse, being recommended by several pediatricians in Chicago. She was able to travel extensively as a result with the families of the infants for whom she cared.

At an early age she received Christ as her Savior and was baptized to bear witness of this. She lived in the Chicago area predominately until 1964 when she moved to Altoona to make her home with her sister Mrs. Ray Garrett. In 1971 she entered Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn where she remained until her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Alvin and Oscar Nelson. She is survived by two sisters Mrs. B. D. Silliman (Faye) of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Sophia Garrett of Ida Grove; one niece Mrs. G. Keith Bell; three great-grandnephews; one great-grandniece; five great-great-grandnieces and nephewes.

Interment was February 14 at Hayes Township Cemetery with Rev. Robert Lundberg of the Arthur Free Church conduction graveside services.
