Obituary of Mrs. Nellie Person Strahn Johnson (1847 1924)
Mrs. Nellie (P. A. ) Johnson was born in Skåne Sweden, 1 October 1847. In 1867 she immigrated to this country and settled in Kiron. In 1870 she was married to Nils Strahn and God blessed this union with six children, 5 sons and a daughter. Mr. Strahn passed away 11 January 1883 and in 1888 she was united in marriage to P. A. Johnson, who survives her. To this union three children were born two sons and a daughter, one son and the daughter having preceded her in death.
At the age of 20 she accepted Christ as her Saviour and since then bore testimony of abiding faith by her Christian life until death came. She was a member of the Mission church at Kiron and took a keen interest in its activities. She was a loving mother , a kind wife and a good neighbor.
Two years ago she suffered an illness from which she never recovered tho rallied and was able to be about until last November, since that time she had been confined to her bed until death relieved her of all suffering, and she passed to eternal peace, on the morning of 16 September 1924. Had she lived 14 more days she would have been 77 years old.
She leaves to mourn her death her husband, P. A. Johnson, 6 sons and a daughter, Wm, Harry, Oscar, Olof, Nathan Strahn, Mrs. Lillian Amis and Enoch Johnson. One sister Betty Anderson, one granddaughter, and one great grand daughter, besides a host of friends.
The children who were here to attend the funeral which was held Thursday afternoon, were: Wm Strahn and wife, Vermillion, SD; Harry Strahn, Pingree, ND; Nathan Strahn, Waterloo; Enoch Johnson and Mrs. Amis and husband of St. Joe, MO. The sons bore their mother to her last resting place.
The funeral services were held from the Mission church conducted by Rev. Myers and interment made in the Kiron cemetery.
