Peterson Rites Held Thursday At Denison

Charles E. Peterson – 1886 to 1949

Funeral services were held Thursday for Charles E. Peterson at the Huebner funeral home in Denison and the Mission Covenant church in Odebolt. The Rev. C. I. Peterson officiated. Burial was in the Odebolt cemetery.

Mr. Peterson died Monday Aug 1, 1949 in his home north of Dow City after a lingering illness.

He was born in Weinge, Halland, Sweden, Jan 6, 1886. He came to this country with his mother when he was seven and they settled in Crawford county. He worked for several farmers before his marriage to Alice Kullberg of Boyer April 23, 1913. He then started farming for himself.

To this union 11 children were born – seven daughters and four sons. The oldest son, Willford was killed in action in Italy May 12, 1944. Mrs. Peterson died June 8, 1948.

Mr. Peterson was confirmed in the Bethel Lutheran church northeast of kiron.

He is survived by his children, Mrs. Clara Konrady of Odebolt, Mrs. Gladys Riley of Dow City, Mrs. Mable Slechta of Dow City, Mrs. Elsie Luetjens of Denison, Mrs. Emil Iversen of Lake View, Mrs. Lorraine Bral of Deloit, Lloyd, Edward, Ruth Ann and Charles, all at home. He also leaves one brother, Ben Peterson, of Odebolt, 12 grandchildren, many other relatives and a large group of friends.



Mrs. P. A. Peterson received word Tuesday that Charles Peterson of Dow City had passed away Monday evening after a short illness. He was a brother of the late P. A. Peterson and of Ben Peterson.
