Myron L. Segerstrom
Funeral services for Myron Lloyd Segerstrom, 87, of Valdosta, Ga, was Saturday in the Kiron Baptist Church. He died Tuesday, 12 Sept 1989 in South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta following a stroke. The Rev. Larry Odle officiated with burial in the Hayes Township Cemetery. The Christensen Funeral home of Ida Grove was in charge of Arrangements.
Mr. Segerstrom was born 18 Jan 1902 in Hayes Township of Ida County, son of Axel and Hulda (Turin) Segerstrom, both of whom were born in Skåne Sweden. He attended Hayes Center rural school, Denison Business School and Bethel Academy in St. Paul, Minn. He graduated from a herdsmans course and a vocational agricultural program at Iowa State college in Ames. He married Hazel M. Marshall, who was from Forbes, N.D., and also was a student at Iowa State College. They were married 20 Feb 1929 in Aberdeen, S.D., and began farming in Sac County and later in Hayes township of Ida County.
In 1936 they moved to Mr. Segerstroms boyhood home at Hayes Center and farmed there until January 1967 when they retired to Sun City Center, Fla. Mrs. Segerstrom died in November 1983. Two years later, Mr. Segerstrom moved to Valdosta, Ga. to be near his son. He had lived in Fellowship Home for the last few years. Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Don (Lois Jean) Hesse of Santa Anna, California, and Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Bailey of Bloomington, Minn.; one son, Ward, of Valdosta, Ga; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Lloyd, three brothers and one sister.
