Mrs. Ralph Salmon(Jennie Skarin) Rites
KIRON...Mrs. Ralph Salmon, 80, died at the Horn Memorial Hospital
early Saturday morning. She had been a resident at Colonial Manor
in Odebolt and was hospitalized Friday. Funeral services were
held Tuesday afternoon, December 17, at the Evangelical Free Church
in Arthur at 2 o'clock.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie Salmon were held Tuesday, December
17 at the Evangelical Free Church in Arthur with the Rev. Robert
Lundberg officiating. Helen McGee was organist and accompanied
James Linman who sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "How
Great Thou Art."
Pallbearers were : Earland Hoaglund, Ronald Hoaglund, Donald Stephan,
Bruce Skarin, Warren Skarin, and Robert Skarin. Burial was in
the Kiron Cemetery.
Jennie Elizabeth Salmon, daughter of Fred and Augusta (Gustafson)Skarin,
was born at Sac City, Iowa September 13, 1894.
12 December 1917 she was married to Ralph Salmon in Ida Grove,
Iowa. They had two sons. They lived on farms around Kiron and
Arthur until they retired and moved to Ida Grove in 1950. She
lived there until April 1972 when she went to live at Colonial
manors in Odebolt.
She died December 14, 1974 at Horn Memorial hospital in Ida Grove.
Sshe was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; one sister,
Esther; four brothers, Axel, John, David, and Harry; and one great
granddaughter. Survivors include two sons, LeRoy of Kiron, and
Verdell, of Schleswig; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grand-children;
and one sister, Mabel Johnson of Odebolt.
She was a member of the Arthur Evangelical Free Church for many
years and attended regularly as long as her health permitted.
