Obituary of Beda Skager Eng
Beda Skager was born June 7, 1872 at Vaster Gotland, Sweden. She passed away on 14 march 1963 at the Morgan Home in Storm Lake, where she has been for the past two and one half years, at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 7 days.
She came to America as a young girl and worked around the Odebolt vicinity for several years.
She was united in marriage to Alfred Eng on 14 Oct 1895. Six children were born to them. Her husband passed away in 1947, a daughter in infancy and a son Harry in 1960.
They lived on a farm west of Arthur for 13 years, then moved to the farm south of Arthur where they lived until moving to Arthur in 1938.
She and her husband were baptized and joined the Arthur Evangelical Free Church in 1915. She faithfully attended services as long as she was able.
Surviving are one daughter and three sons Hazel (Mrs. Earl Belstene) of Odebolt, Carl of Des Moines, Iowa, Clarence of Ida Grove and Elmer of Arthur, one son in law, three daughters in law, 13 grandchildrren and 16 great grandchildren and many friends.
Funeral services were held from the Arthur evangelical Free Church, Monday, 18 March 1963 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Wallace Larson officiating, and the final resting place was Hayes Twp. Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bernard Eng, Delmar Eng, Vincent Eng, Eldon Belstene, Albert Rehor and Ronald Steuk.
Christensen Funeral Home of Ida Grove was in charge.
