Funeral Services Held Tuesday At Kiron
Carl Sonichsen, 59, died at his farm south of Arthur following a heart attack Saturday morning. He was out in his pickup looking at the cattle and did not return when his wife thought he should. She checked and found he had died.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 21, at the Kiron Baptist Church with the Rev. LeRoy Carter officiating. Mrs. Robert Graham was organist and accompanied Mr. and Mrs. James Linman who sang "Day by Day" and Dennis Lindberg, who sang "An Evening Prayer".
Honorary pallbearers were Harold Godberson, Duane Johnson, Howard Larson, Rodger Larson, Wesley Lindstrom, Warren Neal and Duane Simonson. Active pallbearers were Milford Barker, Wayne Gosch, Virgil Lamaak, John Wesley Larson, Lewellyn Larson and Arthur Palm.
Carl William Sonichsen, son of Gertrude Winings and William E. Sonichsen, was born January 30, 1914, on the farm south of Arthur where he spent his entire life.
July 5, 1936, he was married to Marian Turin. Their two daughters are Peg (Mrs. Jack Christensen) of Iowa Falls, and Pat (Mrs. Wayne Langhein) of Burnsville, Minnesota. The grandchildren are Mark and Karleen Langhein.
October 16, 1932, he was baptized and joined the Arthur Baptist Church where he served faithfully for many years.
Other organizations in which Mr. Sonichsen was active are the Odebolt-Arthur School Board, Arthur Elevator, Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. of Kiron, Board of Directors of the Ida County State Bank, and Building Committed of the Horn Memorial Hospital of Ida Grove.
He is survived by his wife; children; grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Gertrude Sonichsen; his sister Louise (Mrs. Hobart Anderson) of San Jose, California; and nephew, Roger Anderson of Gilroy, California.
