Joseph Stehlik (16 Feb 1978)
Joseph Stehlik, son of John Stehlik, sr. and Anna Barta Stehlik,
was born August 4 in Stockholm Township. At age 6 he moved with
his parents to a farm in Milford Township.
He graduated from a rural school near his home. He and his brother
John Jr. operated their father's farm until 1928, when Joe married.
He was united in marriage with Lillian Clauson of Kiron in the
Baptist parsonage in Denison. After their marriage they moved
to a farm north of Vail where he lived until 9 June 1975 when
he entered the Denison hospital following a heart attack and stroke.
On 7 July 1975 he became a resident of Eventide nursing home in
Denison. He was taken to Denison hospital Monday 13 February 1978
and he died Thursday 16 Feb 1978.
In 1935 Joe was baptized and joined the Kiron Baptist Church where
he was a faithful member until death. He was preceded in death
by the following sisters and brothers. Mrs. Sylvai Yankey, Mrs.
Josie Bukacek, Mrs Ann Hendrichsen, Mrs. Mathilda Rasmussen, Stanley
Stehlik and John Stehlik, Jr.
Surviving his death are his wife Lillian, 2 sons, Wesley Stehlik,
Vail and Frances Stehlik of Ankeny. One daughter-in-law, Olive
Stehlik, 3 granddaughters, Michelle, Sharon and Lori Stehlik.
Also surviving are 4 nieces, 3 nephews.
Funeral services were held at Kiron Baptist Church February 18,
with Pastor Gary Clark officiating. Fern Wilson was organist,
and accompanied Bueal Hedstrom and Lewellyn Larson, soloists,
and a congregationsl hymn, Aattendants were Edward Stehlik, Lloyd
Yankey, Stanley Bukachek, Virgil Anderson, Leonard Baker, and
