OBITUARY OF LILLIAN STRAHN -
MRS. R. W. AMIS; DIED TUES. JULY, 24
The following obituary is taken from a St. Joseph, Mo., paper.
Mrs. R. W. Amis, nee Lillian Strahn was born and grew to womanhood
in this locality. For many years she had a millinery department
in her brother, William's store in Kiron. She was a lovely woman
and had many friends here. The entire Strahn family, who were
all residents here, have since moved away.
Mrs. Lillian Amis, 54 years old, wife of Robert W. Amis, an insurance
agent, 3089 Sylvanie Street, died Wednesday, July 24, 1935 at
a local hospital. Death was due to a prolonged illness which developed
from an attack of encephalitis which she suffered two years ago.
Mrs. Amis was a native of Kiron, Iowa and had lived in St. Joseph
23 years. She was active in Red Cross Work during the World War.
Surviving, besides the husband are five brothers, Harry Strahn,
Brooklyn, N. Y., William Strahn, Vermillion, S. D., Olie Strahn,
St. Joseph, Mo., Oscar Strahn, Clarinda, Iowa and Nathan Strahn,
Indianapolis, Indiana and a half brother, Enoch Johnson, Leavenworth,
Kansas. She was a member of the Westminister Presbyterian church.
