The Life Story of Carl Oscar Swanson, Jr.
DELOITCarl Oscar Swanson of Deloit, son of Charles and Anna Swanson was born at Odebolt, Iowa 22 October 1892 and died at the Denison hospital 13 February 1951.
He was married 27 May 1920 to Ruby Cose of Deloit, Iowa. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Denison having served in the first world war.
Survivors are his widow, his sister Mrs. Joe Bringleson or Atlantic, Iowa, and many other relatives and friends. His parents and a brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held 16 February 1951 in Denison with the Rev. M. O. Meyers officiating. Burial was at the Deloit cemetery with military services under the direction of the Denison American Legion Post.
Pallbearers were: Henry Olderog, Thomas Albert, Carl Kolls, Walter Hass, Ivan Patchin and Alvin Shives.
Out of town relatives and friends who attended the services included Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bringleson and family, Atlantic, Iowa; DeOrr Cose, Maurice, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Osterlund, LeMars, Iowa; Mrs. Paul Kelsey, Hornick, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Koch, Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Theo. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Jubel E. Mauritz, Leonard O. Johnson, and Edwin G. Johnson (2nd cousins) attended the Carl Swanson funeral at Denison Friday. Mr. Swanson grew up to manhood in this community, later moving to Deloit. He died from heart ailment. He had reached the age of 58 years. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife and one sister.
