Obituary of : Robert Thompson Found Dead On Farm
Robert A. Thompson, 60, died suddenly at his home Thursday 27 March 1975.
A family service was held at the Christensen Funeral home at 7:00 p.m. Monday with Rev. LeRoy Carter officiating. Funeral Services were held at 10:30 Tuesday at Christiansen Funeral Home with Rev. LeRoy Carter and Rev. Robert Lundberg officiating. Mrs. Oscar Olson was organist and Dennis Lindberg was soloist. Attendants were Art Palm, Donald Bergman, Roland Gustafson, Eldon Belstene, Duane Johnson, and Russell Brown. Honorary pall bearers were his nephews. Burial was at Hayes Township cemetery with military services by the Ida Grove American Legion.
Robert was born 1 January 1915 in Sac county, son of Alvin and Mabel Thompson. He attended the Arthur Baptist Church and farmed in the Arthur area most of his lifetime. A veteran of WWII he entered military service on 22 July 1942. He was taken prisoner of war in Africa 17 February 1943. After 26 months he received his honorable discharge on 6 October 1945.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Mabel Thompson. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Milford Barker, Arthur; and three brothers, Willard of Denison; Wayne "Brick" of Houston, Texas and Harris of Odebolt; two nieces and eight nephews.
