Obituary of Mrs. Anna Louisa Thoren Johnson Freij -- Nov 14, 1935 -- Kiron newspaper-

Mrs. Anna Louisa Thoren (Johnson, Freij) was born January 22, 1847, in Murunes(Murum?) Socken, Älfsborg Län, Sweden. She was united in marriage in the year 1872 to John Alfred Johnson, who passed away in 1873. To this union was born one son, C. S. Johnson, of Kiron, Iowa. In 1875, she was joined in wedlock to Per Gustav Freij, who preceded her in death in 1901. To this union were born eight children. She is survived by seven of these, namely, Mrs. Swan Carlson of Odebolt, Mrs. Paul Anderson of Boyer, Mrs. Emil Holmstrom and Andrew Freij of Duluth, Minn., Emil Freij, Mrs. Algot Pearson and Mrs. Martha Larson, all of Boras, Sweden, also one brother, J. A. Thoren, of Turlock, Calif., 22 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Sweden and was a member of that church during her residence in Sweden.
In 1916, she came, in company with her daughter, Mrs. Swan Carlson, to America. After coming to America, she has made her home with her children. The last months of her life were spent in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Swan Carlson. She received loving attention and care from her children during her illness as well as at all times. She took great interest in her children and their families even up in her aged years. She passed peacefully away Thursday morning, November 7, 1935, at the ripe old age of 88 years, 9 months and 16 days. She was a good and faithful mother and friend. She was always ready to give any assistance possible. She has now gone to be with her Lord and Savior, which was her longing desire.
Funeral services were held on Sunday at 1:30 pm from the Evangelical Free church in Kiron, conducted by the pastor, Rev. H. A. Faugerstrom, assisted by Rev. E. J. Nordlander. Special singing was rendered by the Misses Myrtle and Ellen Nelson. A large number came to pay their last respects to the departed sister, many from Odebolt and Boyer. Relatives from a distance attending were, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Helmstrom and sons, Emil and Wallace, and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Freij of Duluth, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Johnson and two sons of Red Oak, Iowa. Interment was made in the Kiron cemetery.
