Obituary of Harry Chester Tunberg 30 January 1945
Harry Chester Tunberg was born on 6 October 1889 in Blaine township, Ida county. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Tunberg. His whole life time was spent in Ida county, where he secured his early education. He was united in marriage 4 April 1914, to A. Ethel Hoaglund. Into their home four children were born, all boys, one of whom died in infancy, the other three are now in the service of our country. Dewitt is in Italy, Dale in Panama, and Francis in England. Mr. Tunberg farmed for a number of years after which he moved to Ida Grove. Here he served as commodity clerk at the Court House and was later custodian of the building. He was baptized in early life by the Methodist church.
He had been ill for seven years and he fought a losing battle to regain his health. He died Tuesday morning at the age of 55 years and three months. He leaves besides his three sons mentioned above, his wife, and his mother, Mrs. S. P. Tunberg of Arthur. He also leaves two sisters and two brothers, Hilbur Tunberg of Arthur, Mrs. Harold Soiseth of Des Moines, Henry and Herbert Tunberg of Ida Grove.
Services were held from the Moore funeral home here on Friday afternoon with the Rev. Thos. B. Collins in charge. Mrs. Chas. Pullen sang and Mrs. Ronald Courtright accompanied at the piano. Interment was in Hayes township rural cemetery.
