Obituary of Hildur Tunberg
Hildur was the eldest daughter of S. P. and hilma (Lindgren) Tunberg. She was born in Blaine township, Ida County, Iowa on 12 Oct 1892. She made her home with her parents until their passing, then lived by herself in the home at Arthur until December of 1961 when she suffered a stroke impairing her left side. Following hospitalization she was a resident at morgan Nursing home at Storm Lake until June 1966 when she entered Morningside manor Nursing Home at Ida Grove. She had been ill several weeks and was admitted to the horn Memorial Hospital where death came on Sunday 18 Sept 1966 at the age of 73 years, 11 months and six days.
Hildur received Christ as her Savior at the age of 13. Dec 5, 1905 and was baptized on 5 Sept 1915 by Rev. Irvin A. D. Johnson. She became a member of the Arthur Free Church while it stood in the country about three miles from her home. She was a faithful member and never missed any church service if she was able to go.
Preceding her in death were her parents one brother Harry, and her sister, Hazel Soiseth. Survivors include two brothers and their families. Henry W. Tunberg of Ida Grove and Herbert Tunberg, Arthur. Many friends will miss her.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, 21 Sept 1966 at the Evangelical Free church in Arthur with the Rev. John Aiken officiating. Vocalists were Dr. Richard Tunberg and Rev. Allen Tunberg who sang, "Over the Sunset Mountains" and "Only Glory Bye and Bye," accompanied by Mrs. John Aiken.
Bearers were Emil Carlson, Reuben Carlson, William Wonnell, Elmer Eng, Paul Lindgren, and LaVerne Rydberg. Burial was in Hayes Township cemetery. The Christensen Funeral Home, Ida Grove was in charge of arrangements.
